I Like to Watch
As the gardener, Chance, Peter Sellers, in “Being There” is misunderstood when he says “I like to watch” after an inquiry about his sexual preferences. He answered that he likes to watch, meaning television.
I’m very much like Chase. I like to watch. Which is why I got in the tractor cab during the corn harvest. I knew I wasn’t going to get a great photo. The space is too confined. The angle is limited even with a very wide-angle lens. The lighting wasn’t from the right angle.
I made this photo because I was there, watching. Watching from a perspective that few people get to see. A place of rare viewpoint. A place where I got to just watch and enjoy the experience of new sounds, new motions, new angles, new ideas.
Just by watching.
I didn’t need the photo except to remind myself of the joy of just watching.
