Choose Just One
A complete photo gadget bag would require several dromedaries to transport it through the myriad assortment of photos I encounter almost every day.
I always want everything in my bag. From super wide to strong telephoto with the full complement of filters to polarize, neutralize the light density, and soften the highlights. A tripod, a monopod, and a tabletop tripod. Two strobes with wireless remotes. Mounts for both. And a medium-sized reflector.
It’s a simple equation. How much can I carry, for how long, and to what purpose?
What stays at home, in the car, or gets stuffed into the bag? Almost always it’s a very limited arsenal. Two cameras, three lenses. And a couple of wishes I’d brought something different.
It really doesn’t matter. I always have to decide whether to hop on the swing or follow the path.
Either choice is the correct one. Always.
It’s just different outcomes.
