National Geographic magazine has laid off all of its remaining staff writers, which is the latest in a series of cutbacks under owner Walt Disney Co.
This is the second layoff in nine months and the fourth since a series of ownership changes began in 2015. The cutback involves 19 editorial staffers, and article assignments will be contracted out to freelancers or pieced together by editors.
National Geographic has been struggling financially in an increasingly unforgiving ecosystem, and copies of the magazine will no longer be sold on newsstands in the United States starting next year.
Not surprising, all other printed media items, Newspapers, other magazines, have gotten trimmed a lot, and combined, so, why not National Geographic?
If you wish to add to this comment, add others you know of, that have gotten trimmed.
