Our Expectations Changed And Continue To Change
My brother and I once decided that if we could make a salary of $125 a week we would be set for life. It took a while to get there but we did. Both of us. At different times on different schedules.
It is a success story but as with any good three-act play, there were complications.
The $125 was less than we thought it would be. It no longer seemed to be what was necessary to lead the lifestyle we had transitioned into.
My favorite camera in the last 20 years is the Nikon D300. Now far outdated and replaced by cameras that have better everything, the D300 was the first DSLR to have low noise levels for higher ISOs. Critical thinking was no longer needed to decide if the noise was going to be too high.
Now noise is almost nonexistent in even semi-pro models. Sensor technology and camera software have changed the expectations of what a digital camera can resolve.
Noise worries have disappeared along with hitting the wrong focus points, a too slow frame rate, and unrealistic color.
I’m no longer sure what to next expect. I’d prefer it would be reduced prices for the new technology but that is as unrealistic as living on $125 a week.
