Shadow Of Myself
As much as I love late afternoon light it does become a problem when positioned over my shoulder.
I’m not much of a TicTok user with videos of me telling everyone about my latest exploits or sponsorship. Same thing with Instagram. I have made some YouTube videos with me as the primary subject but I rate almost all of them as failures to communicate.
I shoot very few selfies. Usually, when there is something unique about the photo possibility such as my pandemic hair and beard on the day I cut both to a more normal length.
And the day I sorted through the sunglasses closeout at Kroger making a photo of me with every one of the bargains.
I’ve been working on this photo project for about a year now and getting this angle is always a problem with the most disturbing variable being the angle of my shadow across the memorial.
It’s always in the frame no matter the season so my only choice, when I get a photo I like, is a heavy edit. Fortunately for me, this isn’t a photojournalism project so removing my shadow isn’t a violation of the code of ethics.
I’m going to have to stop more often as the required elements, other than the angle of the sun, are in my favor. A slight wind, a variety of or no clouds in the sky, and more greenery.
