Taste of the Cornucopia of Life
Director Darren Aronofsky is set to premiere the first immersive production for the MSG Sphere in Las Vegas, titled "Postcard From Earth". This project is an immersive cinematic experience that takes place in a venue featuring a 160,000-square-foot wraparound LED display, spatial audio system, haptic seats, and environmental effects. The Sphere aims to transport viewers from the busy Vegas strip to the natural wonders of our world.
"Postcard From Earth" combines elements of narrative and documentary filmmaking and features filming locations from every continent. The production used a custom camera system known as Big Sky, which is capable of capturing high-resolution images up to 18K x 18K at 120 frames per second.
This Big Sky camera system was developed by Sphere Entertainment's Sphere Studios, designed specifically for the immersive content intended for the MSG Sphere. The camera features a 316-megapixel HDR image sensor, along with a variety of lenses and underwater housing for versatile shooting options. Sphere Studios is also actively developing post-production workflows and has created the SphereLab image processing software.
