The Normal Way Of Seeing The World
As a photographer, I see the world through a viewfinder. My view of the world is to find visual ways to tell the story of what I see. What I see through the viewfinder but using techniques that let the viewer understand the subject as seen by my eyes.
I work to make photos that transcend mere visual records. I try to make photos to evoke emotional and conceptual connections between the viewer and the subject of the photo.
Good photography frequently originates from an emotional connection between the photographer and the subject. By immersing themselves, photographers allow their emotional responses to guide the framing, timing, and capture of their photos
Each photograph can be seen as a layered narrative. A single photo can unfold various interpretations, depending on the viewer's personal experiences and insights. By viewing photography as a storytelling medium, where every component in the photo contributes to a broader narrative, photographers can craft intricate and captivating works that connect with viewers on a variety of levels.
Incorporating symbolic elements into photographs enhances the narrative depth. Symbols can echo universal human experiences—such as solitude, joy, or endurance. They can elevate a straightforward scene into a profound commentary. Symbols serve as bridges between the personal and the universal, letting viewers find their own emotional and experiential connections within the photo.
Good photography often involves a philosophical exploration, inviting viewers to ponder deeper existential or philosophical questions. Instead of presenting clear answers, photographs can pose questions, framing subjects in ways that provoke thought and contemplation.
Making photos that suggest texture, sound, or even smell can transcend the visual limitations of the medium, offering a more holistic sensory experience. Transcendent photography is about capturing more than what meets the eye; it's about conveying emotions, narratives, and deep-seated human truths with a photo.
