To Belong
When I was young I thought there would be enough time to figure out what life is all about.
Now that I’m older I know there’ll never be enough time and I’ll never know.
That doesn’t stop me from trying to better understand life’s purpose and intent.
I’ve read philosophy books, the Bible, poets, novelists. Watched dancers, and children dance. Concentrated on the subtones of Bill Evans, the raucous exuberance and subdued anger of Miles Davis, flirtatious Vivaldi, Jimi Hendrix.
What really helps me better understand life is finding photographs in the search for discovery. Letting life surround me, envelop me in all its joy and pain, in the experience of living and dying, the need for connection, and the hope to belong. Belong to living.
Living with photographs.
